When I first saw the polished, reflective surfaces of my workplace, I was surprised by its grandeur. Most of my waking hours are spent here, so it feels less special now. However, I still like this studio better than the ones I’ve seen in other hotels. It’s avant-garde, just like our photography: Unlike elsewhere, we do half or more of our formal picture taking at locations outside of the studio room.
Atelier ONE
I didn’t manage a great shot of the entrance.
Different backgrounds from which to choose.
I really like the reflective floor.
Not a popular photo choice, but still pretty.
Where we take most family portraits.
Sample photos and our camera cabinet.
Looking back toward the entrance.
Tracks in the ceiling for moving lights around.
A narrow view of the entire studio.
Our studio room cameras.
The red thing is an infrared flash remote.
These are medium-format film cameras.
Kind of professional-looking, aren’t they?
Looks like a laser cannon to me. “Shoot” a photo...
They’re really just boxes with stuff attached.
I think we should shoot funerals, too.
Our office from the outside.
Inside. Where I am 60–100% of the time.
Looking back to the door. That’s my workspace!
A cell-phone pic of a studio-exterior setup.
A low-quality pic of a high-quality camera.
